Anniversary

To celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary dear husband and I took a day trip to Galena.

It was fun to go through many of the shops and to see all of the autumn decorations. Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love the colors, football, the chill in the air and the food of autumn.
After a great lunch at Vinny Vanucchi's, we grabbed a coffee and walked across the bridge to Grant park.

It was cool to see all of the different cannons, this one was a Civil War cannon.

I love the patina color on the cannon.

The gardens looked lovely even though much of the color was muted due to the season.

On the way home we came across an alpaca farm so I had to snap a final shot of this cute creature! someday.............

pet report

Pet's are all doing well. I love using the sink to give Wrigley his bath.

Kodi is doing pretty well, limping more than he used to, which is disappointing since he had the big surgery a while back.

I love this picture with his eyes closed, it just cracks me up.
I don't have a picture of Annie to post this week but she is doing fine.

Freckles is not behaving, she still has her nose out of joint about Wrigley joining the family.

Off my needles - Thorpe Hat

I just love this pattern! I finished another Thorpe Hat this weekend. This one will be mailed to my beautiful niece in DSM that is starting chemo next week for breast cancer.

Sweet daughter was nice to model the hat.

I used chunky Malabrigo yarn, I just love this color - shocking pink, it is hand dyed and is just lovely to knit with.

Homecoming dance

Sweet daughter and date enjoyed the homecoming dance. They looked so nice all dressed up.

Homecoming week

Last week was homecoming week for dear son and sweet daughter.

what a cute eskimo she was on costume day.

Dear son had a football game on Thursday followed by a 9th grade dance. They won the football game. My beautiful sister from Des Moines and her sweet hubby drove all the way out for my dear son's game. It was so fun to host them for his game and show them the sports complex at the school.

We had a lot of fun in the grandstands!

What a sweet picture (and kind of funny) of dear son with his aunt and uncle.

Here is the start of the Friday homecoming game, they burn a big "P" at the start of the game.

Here is sweet daughter in color guard. I've been trying to upload video's but they seem to be too big for blogspot. boo!

Journey Hat off my needles!

I finished the Journey hat for my sweet niece in Des Moines who is going to start chemo for breast cancer in a couple weeks. I think it turned out really cute. Cute daughter is modeling here. I just hope it isn't too big, it seems kind of loose but it is suppose to be slouchy so hopefully it will be OK.

It is made with Berroco comfy yarn which is what the knitting shop recommended for a chemo cap.
I plan to make a Thorpe for sweet niece next with some beautiful Malabrigo yarn that I bought at stitches.

Stitches Midwest

Stitches Midwest was in Chicago Fri - Sunday. My Iowa City buddies and I took a bus trip from Davenport up to Chicago on Friday. I had to get up at 4:30 am to get over to Davenport in time for the bus to leave at 7am. Wow, was I ever tired on Saturday but it was worth it!

The gals that put on the bus had door prizes from many of the vendors. I received a $25 gift certificate and bought this brooch.

Lot's of vendors.

Here are the Iowa City girls, we had a lot of fun!

I found some yarn I could not live without. I love Spud and Chloe, I am not sure if it is the yarn, the logo or the patterns but I love it! I founds some wonderful Berroco yarn for Nimbus sweater. The pink Malabrigo will become a hat soon. Also Sunday yarn for a lace scarf that will match my brooch!

color guard and football

Sweet daughter is in color guard with her high school band. It was so fun to watch them perform before the varsity game and at half time on Friday night. I will post videos soon.

She enjoyed herself and after the halftimeshow she met up with friends to watch the rest of the game in the studen section bleachers.

Dear son played on the defense for the "B" game on Saturday. It was fun to watch him block and he had one interception.
