What's on my needles

I bought Malabrigo to make a lace type of cardigan. I love the yarn and I love the pattern. I will post more about this sweater in a future blog.

Is it just me or is peaches & cream cotton just kind of sucky to work with? This is a market bag that I am working on but I just hate the way the cotton feels when I am knitting it. It is a perfect project for the ball diamonds as I really don't care if it is full of park dust and sunscreen at the end of the day.

Wrigley likes to help when I am laying out my projects. he follows me around all the time, I love it!

lovin' the yard

Here are a few pictures of my yard. I have so much I would like to do but time and $ keep me from doing too much. I am happy with parts of my landscape and other areas are downright embarrassing!

This wonderful viburnum was planted when we first moved in and look at it now! I love this plant and would not hesitate to plant again.

I am trying to stick with purple and lime green for my annuals. Hard to do with the selections I've found this year. I did find wave petunias in purple and here they are in a pot by my hydrangeas and hostas.
I love these little shoes. I used to have 2 pairs, one my sweet sister bought me several years back but they finally crumbled from use and seasons so now I only have the little high heels.

This is my little front porch.

I found the garden flag at Michael's on sale. Since the little dog in the left hand corner looks like Wrigley, I had to buy it!
Here are the lovely iris that my dear friend Shelley gave me several years ago - wow do they put on a show!

Graduation season!

Our sweet niece graduated from high school today. Last weekend was her graduation party. Wow, time flies. She was just an infant when we got married. It happened to be my mother-in-law's birthday the same day. She was there in spirit I am sure. bitter-sweet.

Wrigley

Wrigley graduated from puppy kindergarten last week. He can now sit, lay down and walk on a leash like a good boy, unless he is with Kodi then all bets are off. I know it seems crazy to have 3 dogs but Wrigely came unto my life at a perfect time and I thank my dear husband for encouraging me to get him. He brings me so much joy. I plan to enroll him in another obedience class next fall and I am thinking about agility, as well.

Memorial Day weekend baseball

This is the last Red's baseball game for dear son. He will focus on school ball from here on out. It is hard to think about this phase of our lives being over but I'm thinking of the positive side. He will have more time to play with his friends, fish with his dad and just get bored. I think that is OK for a 14 year old kid.

Here he is running in to home.

Crankin' out Quilts in May

One more quilt top finished this weekend!

I had planned on making this for a graduation gift but I have not had time to work on it. To top it off, I hurt my back so will not be able to sit at my sewing machine. My niece will now get cash instead of a quilt. Maybe I will save this for a college graduation gift?

Tennis

Tennis season ended last week. It was a blast to watch sweet daughter play this year.

Her game really improved as the season progressed. She had a lot of fun being part of the team and hanging out with her friends when she wasn't playing.

Fun weekend in Des Moines

Sweet daughter and I enjoyed a fun weekend in DSM this weekend. We met my beautiful sister, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephew for lunch at Cheesecake Factory. Then we went shopping for the afternoon. It was really fun to have a girls day of lunch and shopping.

Here is sweet daughter with her adorable cousin.

New baby great-nephew was a sweet little guy, we barely heard a peep out of him. He is just a sweetie-pea.

My beautiful sister and sweet daughter.

My sweet nieces and me.

Later in the day we met up with my high school friend that was visiting from San Diego. It was fun to catch up and have a nice visit.

Things got a little "corny" at breakfast on Sunday.

Baseball

My sweet son's team placed 2nd in the weekend tournament.

He played many positions on Sunday. he pitched, he played third, he played center, right and left field.

Wrigley enjoyed his day at the diamonds. he was one pooped pup by the end of the day.

Spring is here!

Spring is here! It is so nice to see a little color in the yard.

I bought these cute little faces in Door county last summer. I just love them. I bought three and they each have a different face.

The star I found at Farmer's Market in Des Moines. have you been to the Farmers market? it is wonderful, a lot to see and buy plus that it is dog friendly.

here fishy fishy

They guys caught a mess of crappie a week ago.

They were so yummy. I used a little canola oil and a breading mix we bought in Hayward, WI last summer.
