what is on my needles, sewing machine, loom, spinning wheel and dye pot

So much going on at one time it is hard to finish much.
Iowa City girlfriend and I spent a Saturday warping and dyeing. It was so much fun to see how the dyes work out and the loom warped so pretty. I finished a handspun hat for a surprise for college girl and started some socks. I love my size 1 signature double pointed needles. Really enjoying knitting these socks. I am also getting ready for a retreat in April and need to get all of my fabric cut so I can sew sew sew. I am working on a full size quilt for college girl's bed and a baby quilt for sweet Johnston neice's litte baby boy. Dear Son starts spring league baseball next weekend which means my crafting / sewin/ spinnin / knittin / weavin' time will be limited until baseball is over. He is a Junior in High school this year so I am trying to savor every moment, every hug and every goofy momeny with my dear son. If you don't see my updating my blog much in the next couple months please be patient as I live in the moment with my family!

spring comes early in Iowa

The whole midwest is experiencing a warm winter and spring. It is strange to see flowers popping up, people mowing and the dreaded tick this early in the year. However, it is hard for me, a winter hater,to complain, bring on spring, bring on baseball, just bring it one!

Sons are sooooo easy

Getting ready for prom for dear son's Junior year. Almost as easy as sweet College Girl was that year. Sweet college girl had a coupon for Gorman's ( a local department store) and she found a dress for $42.00 not including the 20% coupon. So she was pretty easy Junior year (senior year was another story). As far as sons go you really just need to know the girl that is color of the dress and the rest is taken care of at the tux store.

College girl birthday time and Spring break take 1

College girl was home for spring break this week. It was so fun to have her home. One of the activities was a trip to a hockey game.

We also celebrated a 19th birthday birthday cake and a fun dinner out for Japanese.

How to wear a shawl and not look like you are 90

Off the needles! Love this shawl. details on yarn and pattern will be found on Ravelry when I have time to post.

Several ways to wear a shawl, not always over the shoulders, here are some ideas. I love the shawl because I tend to be hot and cold a lot so can easily put on or shed, as needed.

The drape is amazing, love this alpaca yarn. Blocking was important to pull out the lace pattern.

Stitch and Bxtch

Dear hubby calls our gatherings a stitch and bxtch but really, we don't complain, we are generally very happy to be together with like minded friends creating fiber or fabric art.

I hosted a Saturday with friends a few weeks ago. I prepared a cheese platter with green apples and red grapes, along with a fruit salsa and fudge.

We enjoyed spinning, knitting, crochet and yes, crafte stuff that involved scratch off bookmarks!

My new BFF is a sweet grandaughter of my Uncle Rocky friend.

The rest of the girls are from Iowa City, Coralville and north Marion. It was so fun to get girlfriends together to enjoy a cool winter Iowa Saturday. I am so blessed to have like minded friends.
