One of the best day's of my life

My sweet daughter graduated from high school last Saturday. It was one of the best day's of my life. It is hard to explain but I think if you have had a child graduate from high school you can probably relate.

Part of my joy is the wonderful young woman she has become, she is so caring, sweet and fun. She gives great speeches and brings joy in everything she does. An example of this joy that she brings is when she works at McDonald's, a little girl came to the counter to buy a toy but didn't have enough money so sweet daughter pulled a dollar out of her own pocket to cover the toy. That is the kind of person she has become.

I wish I could say it was all me and dear hubby's influence that makes her the special person she is today but it is not. It is her preschool, a few great teachers, church, coaches, musical directors, a few not so great teachers and the special needs kids that she volunteered at school to help. She is always reaching out to those that don't have a voice and because of this I am so proud. So when you look at these pictures and you do not see cords or ribbons hanging off her robe, remember they are all on the inside, given to her by God.

I think now she is teaching me.

Whisper cardigan still a work in progress

I am still working on the Whisper Cardigan. I cast it on April 13th and hoped to have it done by now. There seems to be miles of lace weight yarn to be knitted in this lovely sweater. The pattern itself is very clever. It starts with the left sleeve then across the back to the right sleeve. After that you knit the collar and the back gather, then down the back of the sweater. I worked on a lot of the knitting when I was recovering from my recent back surgery. I see a few mistakes that I hope I can fix with a little stitch after the sweater is done and blocked. I love the way the fabric feels, hopefully I will love the sweater too. Maybe by my next post I will have a finished object to show you!

Graduation Thank You's - The Best Day

Sweet daughter put together this slide show as a suprirse to Dear Hubby and I. She makes me so proud.

Senior Presentations

The school district that our children go to requires every senior to do a presentation in order to graduate. They select two projects or assignments from each school of high school, cover extra curricular activities and personal things that happened during the four years. Sweet daughter gave a fantastic presentation. She was interesting, entertaining and very articulate. She talked about some neat projects, color guard, tennis. She also talked about her Grandpa (My dad) and her Grandma (DH's mom) passing away just days apart during her sophomore year. When we got home she surprised us with a very cool slide show to thank us for supporting her. I included that in the prior post. Now the count down to graduation has begun!!!

Mother's Day 2011

Mother's day 2011 was a wonderful day! Ken and Caleb worked in the yard most of the weekend and the landscape looks so fresh with the new mulch.

Sweet daughter works at McD's now and worked at 5pm that Sunday so we tried to do everything early.

Amazing how tall and sweet dear son is and what a charming young woman sweet daughter is becoming. I am so proud of both of them.

Our IC college girl niece came down to eat the yummy grilled steaks that dear hubby made.

Dear Son dug up, planted and mulched these beds, he said it was my Mother's day present since he didn't have any money. I love it and I promise I won't return it!

felted soap

I experimented with felting soap a week ago. It was really fun to play with the fiber. I used organic almond scented soap from New Pi in Iowa City. Not to self... do not leave food scented soap out when Kodi the notorious food thief is left alone in the room. seriously he ate some soap! Good thing he is such a cute boy.

As you can see her name and year of graduation is part of the quilting, how cool is that!!?

I love the way it turned out, she wants it to be tea dyed so stay posted for tea dye.

still back in the saddle!

one thing I could do while laying down was knit. I finished this sweater and sewed on the buttons.

Back in the saddle!

Sorry about the long hiatus! I had back surgery a couple weeks ago and in extreme pain before that sooo without further adu here is my life looking back in fast forward! oh my gosh what a Spring! Dear Son was confirmed the same day as my surgery! And dear daughter went to prom. She went with a bunch of very close friend and did not have a date. Well, I have to say her Dad thought that was a brilliant idea and she had a blast!
