seeds are germinating

The seeds I planted a few weeks ago are germinating. I am so thrilled. This is the first year I have tried tomato plants and they look like they are all good to go. next weekend I will transplant to a soil mixture.

updated room for a teen

Sweet daughter was in need of a room make over. Her old room has horses and a pre-teen theme. She decided to go with a bright blue wall which dear husband painted a few weekends ago. I bought some adhesives for a "beach surfing ocean" theme. I made valances with leftover fabric from the quilt I made her.






We probably should have gone with a little larger stick on for the hibiscus but it still looks really cute.

The surf board turned out great and the quilt just pulls it all together. I think this is a great room for a 16 year old girl.

movie review

We watched Mama Mia last night. Ok, I guess I am not a fan of Abba, never was back in "the day" and have not found a new love of their music with this movie. Meryl is a great actress but she was too old for this part. My recommendation is if you loved the 70's Abba music you will love this movie if you didn't, go ahead and rent it and have a good knitting project to work on so you aren't wasting time. I give it a C.

double the heartache

We lost two of our favorite people this month. My Dad and dear husband's Mom. They passed away just 5 days apart. They will be greatly missed.

sweet 16

Sweet daughter turned 16 on March 10th. We surprised her with a new laptop.

She had a few friends over to celebrate the weekend before her birthday.

She is practicing driving and will get her license soon.

A time to plant

I started seeds indoors today. This year I am trying to start tomatoes, which I haven't tried before. I am also starting acorn squash, zinnia and a couple other flowers.

My friend Shelley gave me some soil-less mix to start the seeds in. She has had great success with vermiculite. I am really excited to see how it works.

Once I planted and watered the seeds, I placed them in a sunny basement window. This works great for sunlight and Freckles the cat can not get to them.

Movies

We love having netflix and have been watching a lot of movies since signing up.



Here is a little review. Nights of Rodanthe was pretty good. I would give it a B-. A chick flick for sure.






We are probably the only people on earth that haven't seen the Mummys series. This is the first one from 1999. Sort of like Indiana Jones but not as good. I would give it a C.

Inside Man was a weird movie. Instead of flash backs, it sort of did, flash forwards. Once I figured out the flash forwards it was OK. I would give it a B-.

on my needles

I am working on sweater from the pattern Take It from the Top #602. I am using knit picks shine worsted and really enjoying this project.

Jazz in February

Dear son played in his middle school's jazz band concert on Thursday night. Wow, they are really great. He is enjoying jazz band and plans to play in high school.

He practices a lot and is 2nd chair.
