Piano

Sweet daughter continues to get better and better on the piano!

and now from the pets

The pets are doing great. Here is Annie.

Kodi is getting along great, I am so glad we choose for him to have the surgery last Spring!

Freckles loves to lay on top of the kitchen cupboards.

17th years and going strong!

We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary on September 28th. We went out for some good Italian food on Saturday night and we went to the Amana's for a play at the Old Creamery Theater on Sunday. I am blessed to have such a wonderful dear husband.

Are you ready for some footbal!?

My dear son is having a great time playing 8th grade football. More pictures to come soon!

Homecoming

Sweet daughter invited a few friends over for pizza and face painting before the homecoming football game. It ended up pouring and all the face paint washed off during the game which actually was OK because it saved sweet daughter time the next day not having to scrub black and orange out of the shower.

Saturday was the homecoming dance, she went with a group of friends. No date for 10th grade homecoming is A-OK with dear husband and me. She looked so pretty. Dear husband suggested we buy her a wrist corsage (he really is sweet).

Door County Recipes and a few more quilting pics

Here are some great recipes from our trip to Door County.

Jackie made a wonderful mean one night and served it with this faboulous sesame seed bread.

Vermicellis with Lemon Clam Sauce

Bette brought some wonderful granola and made a southwester salad (recipe to come soon for salad).

Dayna "doctored" up some great soups starting with dried mix.

I brought a snack of Caramel Corn and never had a chance to make my chili because I was to cook on the last day and we had too much food from the previous days!

I just received some more pictures that Dayna took so thought I would add a few here! I will add more as time allows, right now my kids need to get on the computer to look for school work.

Door County is to DYE for.... and more

I enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at my good friend Jackie's cabin in Door County. Jackie, Bette, Dayna and myself headed north on Friday September 5th. We came home on Tuesday, it was great fun, great company, great lodging, great food and a great time!

Jackie's cabin is right on Lake Michigan, we listened to the waves hit the cliffs at night, what a great way to sleep!

We found a very cool yarn store in Madison
On Saturday morning we went to Sturgeon Bay to the grocery store, farmers market and another great yarn store.
Farmers Market

There was sailboat art all around Sturgeon Bay.

I finished my fan and feather scarf.

On Saturday afternoon we dyed yarn with Kool-Aid. We dyed both sock yarn and sock blanks.

We tried kettle dying and hand painting.

Here is some grape kool-aid kettle dye.

The sock yarn looked so pretty drying in the sun.

We laid the sock blanks out on saran wrap and hand dyed.

Then we rolled it up and microwaved it, let it cool, then rinsed it and dried.

We each took a turn and all of the different choices in colors were very "kool".

The neat thing about sock blanks is you can knit two socks at once right off of the blank.

Look at these vibrant colors! It is such a neat process the dye goes into the wool leaving clear water in the bowl.

Here is quilt number 1. I made this for my sweet daughter. She is too old for her horses now that she is in high school.

This pattern is out of the Happy Hour book, between friends junior

Jackie took us on daily tours of the island. We went to the Bailey Harbor Yacht club, it was very classy.

At the Bailey Harbor Yacht Club.

We enjoyed shopping, this was at the Blue Dolphin, a beautiful shop and gallery.

Blue Dolphin garden.

We ate at Fred and Fuzzys.

We enjoyed coffee outside overlooking the lake.

We took a little walk along the lake.

The ball winder came in very handy for all of the yarn we painted.

Quilt 2 - a Halloween quilt. I made this using all scraps out of my stash.

We had a fun trip on Monday to the wine shop.

My children have never seen a phone both (only on TV) so I had to take this picture!

Quilt number 3. Thanks to my work friend Laurie, I had some fabric to put together this darling quilt. I wondered who I would give this to before I went to Door, not knowing anyone that is expecting that I am close enough to make a quilt for, then I received some wonderful news that my sweet niece Laura is expecting (or on the nest as George Bailey would say). I am not sure if Laura is a regular visitor to my blog so hopefully I can keep this a surprise. If not, I hope you like it Laura and Neal!

Quilt number 4, another bright quilt, not quite finished but ready to be put into rows!

On the way home on Tuesday we stopped at Susan's Fiber. Susan gave us a little lesson on drop spindle, Jackie and I both bought one! I also tried out a spinning wheel that I really hope I can buy someday.

Susan has some wonderful sheep. Maybe next visit I will buy a whole fleece!
What a fun trip!
