whats still...... on my needles......

I went to my last sweater class last Wednesday. I found out I was decreasing the wrong way at my sleeves and had to pull out about 3 inches of knitting but I am back on track now and I think it is going to turn out to be a nice sweater! let's hope I don't need it until October or November!

Gardening

Since baseball ended a little early on Sunday I was able to get out in the garden, so a silver lining. One raised bed looks really good. I weeded, spread compost and mulch. the plants love that bed, thanks to Shelley for all of the plants in this raised bed. I love the way gardeners like to share!

Next I moved all of my ornamental grasses and daylillies. I planted lilacs along my East fence. I bought them from Theisens for 8 bucks a bush! I planted 2 white, 1 light purple and one dark purple. I moved all of my daylillies to the North Fence along with the ornamental grasses and black eyed susans.

More sweet plants above, from my friend Pam who is in Arkansas now.

I think the daffodils have maybe another week before they start weeping.

Sister Jackie gave me these cute little shoe planters several years ago with pansies in them, I use them every year, first with pansies and then with a summer annual. cute!

More Baseball

My son's team won 2 games on Saturday and lost 1 game on Sunday.

It was a cold weekend for baseball. Saturday was especially cold. The forecast for Sunday was wrong, thankfully! It was suppose to be rain/snow mix but the sun was shining.
Even with the sun shining, everyone was bundled under blankets and sleeping bags.

Thanksgiving in April

Ken shot a huge turkey last weekend. Does anyone know a good wild turkey recipe? It was 28 pounds!

Baseball

We had fun at Caleb's first baseball tournament of the year last weekend. His team won 2 and lost 2. They looked great for a new team playing together!

Test and procrastination

Again, I find myself trying to be a dutiful student studying Astronomy which coincidentally seems to be the same topic and terms my 7th grade son seems to bey studying and testing on. anyway...... I found this test via another blog, free personality type test. I think it pretty much nailed me, except for maybe the breaking hearts, ha! I remember taking this test probably 15 years ago and the first letter was an I rather than an E.

Kodi is still in the klink, Annie seems to be enjoying it!

Kodi is still confined to a big crate in our family room. He is taking it pretty well as long as we are all there with him.

Annie seems to be enjoying having Kodi out of her hair. Doesn't she look like she is smiling in this picture?

what's on my needles

I had another sweater class this week. I am glad I tore out the first attempt although it has put me behind the rest of the class. So far I have the body of the sweater and 1 1/4 sleeves completed. Daughter and I rented movies while the guys were away this weekend. I had a lot of quality knitting time last night. Have you seen Nancy Drew? It was a very cute movie.

Turkey Hunters

Hubby and son were out this weekend hunting for turkeys. I don't really understand it all, getting up early, sitting quiet on the cold damp ground but then again they don't ask questions about my fabric and fiber craziness either.
Here are the decoys.

Here is the blind.

Here is a tired boy. They came up empty handed this time but enjoyed the weekend doing guy stuff.

Spring hike

My whole family went out for a wonderful hike in a county park yesterday. The temps were around 64 so it was great to be outside and walking in the wood.

Ready the playing field

On Saturday my son's baseball team had a work day at the baseball diamond they use. The weather was perfect for a work day. I wasn't able to help as much as I had hoped due to my back not wanting to coorperate.

HIP-HIP-HOORAY Spring is here

Here are a few signs of spring. We bought the kids a basketball hoop and we are all having so much fun playing! Baseball is starting up for our son and outdoor practice is beginning. A few bulbs are starting to pop. Hip-Hip-Hooray Spring is here!

Kodi doing very well

The outpouring of well wishes for Kodi's speedy recovery is overwhelming. Thanks to my friends and family who have asked how he is doing and sent cards. You are all so thoughtful and kind. Kodi is doing very well in recovery. It is hard for him to understand why he can play, jump, go up stairs or outside without being on a leash. We have him in a big kennel in the living room. His stitches came out last week. He will have to continue on rest for the next 7 weeks, then we will find out if he can be on his own more. We plan to take both dogs on vacation this year to Wisconsin so hopefully he is recovered by August.

That Darn CAT!

As you may remember from previous posts, I started seeds indoors a few weeks ago. Typically when I start seeds I leave them in a basement window, well for some crazy reason this year I left them on the dinning room table where the cat found them and decided they would be a nice snack. She ate several of the seedlings, I am not sure if they will recover. They did not hurt the cat but a good reminder to myself to plant catnip this year!

Learning about gage the hard way

I had to rip out my sweater after finding out in class last week that I was using the wrong gage. Instead of making a sweater 40 inches around it was 30 inches around - no wonder it was so tight when I tried it on! Now I am starting all over and need to have it knitted to my chest and 2 sleeves completed in 1 week! It will be a challenge especially since I have an astronomy test on Friday to complete and a lot of work and home stuff to attend to!
