flag cake

Sweet daughter, a neighbor girl and I made a cake on Friday night. I've wanted to try this cake ever since I first saw it in Barefoot Contessa's cook book. It isn't quite like the Flag Cake that Ina makes as I used both raspberries and strawberries because I didn't have enough raspberries. Also, I made only 1/2 of the cake so it turned out a little more like bars. I would compare it to fruit pizza that I've tried. I think it turned out pretty well. The flavor was delish and the decorating not bad considering it is the first time any of us have tried cake decorating.
